Different Types of Dentures at Harrogate Denture Clinic

When it comes to restoring your smile, there’s no “one size fits all”. Every patient has unique needs, and at Harrogate Denture Clinic we take the time to explain your options so you can choose the right solution with confidence.

Below we’ve outlined the different types of dentures available, with details on how each one works, their benefits, and what you can expect. All of our dentures are handcrafted by James, our in-house CDT, designed to look natural, feel comfortable, and restore your ability to eat, talk and smile with ease.

Acrylic Partial Dentures

Acrylic partial dentures are one of the most common solutions for replacing a few missing teeth. They’re crafted from high-quality acrylic and designed to blend seamlessly with your natural smile.

  • Customised for you: James individually selects and positions each denture tooth so that the shape, size, and shade match your existing teeth.
  • Natural appearance: With a wide variety of tooth shades available, acrylic dentures can be colour-matched for a subtle, natural look.
  • Functional: They allow you to eat and speak with confidence, restoring normal function to your bite.
Prices from £750 per denture (per arch: upper or lower)

Chrome (Metal) Partial Dentures

Chrome cobalt dentures are a lightweight alternative that combine acrylic with a strong metal framework.

  • Durable & discreet: The chrome base is slim but strong, making these dentures less bulky than acrylic versions.
  • Hygienic design: They require less coverage of the palate or tongue, which many patients find more comfortable.
  • Great function: Patients often report they can chew food with greater ease compared to traditional acrylic options.

Implant-Retained Dentures

For the ultimate in comfort and security, implant-retained dentures use small titanium implants to anchor your denture firmly in place.

  • Secure fit: Say goodbye to adhesives and slipping dentures — implants keep your dentures stable.
  • Natural feel: With a bite force closer to natural teeth, you can enjoy all types of food, including steak and apples.
  • Suitable for many patients: Especially beneficial if you have reduced bone support or want the most stable solution available.
  • Jawbone support: Implants help maintain bone density, reducing long-term facial changes.
Prices from £1,500 per denture (per arch: upper or lower)

Full Dentures

If you’ve lost all your natural teeth, full dentures can restore not only your smile but also the structure of your face.

  • Aesthetic restoration: Dentures replace missing teeth and support your lips and cheeks, helping to reduce sagging or a “sunken” appearance.
  • Boosted confidence: Whether your old dentures are worn or you’re looking for your first set, full dentures can transform your day-to-day life.
  • Personalised design: We offer a wide choice of shapes, sizes, and colours to create a natural, attractive smile tailored to you.
Prices from £950 per denture (per arch: upper or lower)

Flexible Dentures

For patients who struggle with traditional plastic dentures, flexible dentures provide an alternative.

  • Comfortable fit: Flexible clasps help keep the denture secure without the rigid feel of metal or standard acrylic.
  • Adaptable design: Particularly useful for patients with irregular bone or gum shapes.
  • Considerations: Flexible dentures may not be suitable for everyone, and James will explain the pros and cons during your consultation.
Prices from £1100 per denture (per arch: upper or lower)

Immediate (Temporary/Healing) Dentures

If you’re having teeth removed, immediate dentures allow you to leave the clinic with a smile the very same day.

  • Same-day solution: These dentures are fitted straight after extractions so you’re never without teeth.
  • Healing support: They protect the gums and maintain appearance while your mouth heals.
  • Next steps: After 3–6 months of healing, a new permanent denture can be made. Temporary relines are available during this period to keep them comfortable.
Prices from £750 per denture (per arch: upper or lower)
